ONN has taken some leadership on this issue – but establishing the value and contribution of the sector to society in the policy-makers’ and public mind are important – in that regard, let’s start by asserting a clear and positive way that we identify our sector.

Three examples recently for me: School boards and Planning departments in their silos when we all know community planning needs everyone at the table, community hubs under the Infrastructure Ministry that is tasked to best bang for buck on assets not community benefit, lack of partnering with religious organizations that have real estate in the hot Toronto market that could be helping with affordable housing. In an ideal world this would be an election issue.
